How to Calibrate Your Gaming Controller in Windows 10 Chris Stobing @chrisstobing Updated July 3, 2017, 10:15pm EDT Most PC gamers would rather die than let you take away their mouse and keyboard. If not remove the controller, open device manager and remove the usb bus controller drivers, reboot and let windows install a new driver for that also. Plug the controller back in and it should have then instaledl both drivers properly. So if you are using Windows 10 (which is what most of you are using now), Windows 8.1 or 8, you will find the driver provided by Windows not helpful enough. If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to update the Xbox 360 driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.

No matter what I try, I cannot get this goddamn controller to connect to my laptop.. (MSI GS70 Stealth Pro running Windows 10 build 10586). The controller is the 'newer' version -- the one with the 3.5mm audio jack.
I have tried two different cables, two different USB ports, two different pairs of batteries..
The controller turns on just fine (Xbox button lights up), but it just blinks for about 30 seconds before turning off. Sittin on the dock of the bay download. When I connect it to my laptop, the controller rumbles once, but nothing happens in Windows.
I have visited this page multiple times and only get sent in circles:
For Windows 10, it says, 'For Windows 10, the most current drivers are pre-installed with the operating system' (I call bullshit) 'and are automatically updated through the Xbox Accessories app. See Update your Xbox One Controller.'
Intel(r) atom(tm) processor z2760 i2c controller driver for windows 10 download. The 'Xbox Accessories' app is complete garbage. For one, it doesn't even recognize the controller; for another, (judging from reviews), it appears to be only for the Xbox One Elite controller, which I do not have.
When I go to the 'Update your Xbox One Controller' page, it only reiterates that I need to install the Xbox Accessories app, which I've already found not to work.
I cannot update via Device Manager, because the controller doesn't even show up there, and nothing happens if I scan for hardware changes.
Since they were finally released last year, I have manually downloaded and installed the 64-bit drivers ('xb1usb.11059.0.140526x64.msi') -- no difference.
I have also searched for and read a few threads on Reddit about this, but all I can find for 'fixes' are 1. Uninstalling/updating via Device Manager (which I can't do, since it's not there); or, 2. Visiting that f***ing Xbox Support page, which gets me nowhere but circles..
For what it's worth, I purchased the controller on Friday from Amazon (via X-Button Games) -- it is used, but is in very good condition and, like I said, turns on just fine.
